A USC forma parte do Clúster Galego de Solucións Ambientais e Economía Circular (VIRATEC) cuxa asemblea fundacional celebrouse en Compostela este luns. É o primeiro clúster de medio ambiente en Galicia nun sector cunha cifra de negocio de aproximadamente dous mil millóns de euros e en cuxo despegue participan 55 empresas e entidades. A USC estará representada a través do Instituto CRETUS.

VIRATEC busca ser un referente no desenvolvemento e implementación de tecnoloxías, procesos e solucións ambientais e a súa misión será incrementar a capacidade tecnolóxica, de innovación e competitividade das empresas galegas que achegan solucións ambientais fomentando un ecosistema de cooperación pública-privada e entre empresas. Entre os seus obxectivos, a agrupación potenciará as sinerxías entre distintas áreas de coñecemento, promovendo a I+D+i, mellorando a formación e creando oportunidades de internacionalización para contribuír ao desenvolvemento sostible da sociedade galega e a preservación do seu medio ambiente baixo os principios da economía circular.

Como queda recollida na súa acta fundacional, VIRATEC pretende aglutinar os actores galegos, directa ou indirectamente, involucrados no sector das solucións ambientais, dende as empresas ou proveedores, ata clientes, universidades e centros tecnolóxicos, entre outros. Na sesión fundacional celebrada este luns participaron de xeito telemático e presencial a comisión xestora e as empresas e entidades participantes. De xeito presencial asistiron o director do CRETUS, Juan Lema; o director xeral de Viaqua, Julio Masid; a directora de Competitividade Estratéxica de Agroamb, Josefa de León; e a responsable técnica da Unidade de Biogás de Norvento Enerxía, Helena Penas.
