En el día de ayer, Ricardo García Míguez, ha sido reelegido presidente de la Fundación Porlier, para un nuevo período de cuatro años.
García Míguez nació en A Coruña, ciudad en la que reside y en la que se ha asentado su familia durante muchas generaciones. Licenciado en Derecho por la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, realizó estudios del Doctorado en la misma Universidad.
El reelegido presidente representó en 1968 a la Facultad de Derecho en la Junta Permanente del Distrito Universitario de Santiago de Compostela. También como universitario, accedió a la Instrucción Premilitar Superior en donde alcanzó el grado de Oficial.
Fue secretario de sección en el II Congreso de Dereito Galego, presidente de la Coordinadora das Fundacións Galegas, portavoz del colectivo de pensamiento y acción Plataforma Liberal de Galicia y presidente del partido Centro Liberal de Galicia.
Articulista en la prensa gallega y en la del resto de España, ha publicado numerosos trabajos sobre asuntos jurídicos, sociales, políticos y culturales. Sobre los mismos temas también ha pronunciado muchas conferencias, invitado por diversas sociedades, asociaciones y la Universidad.
Es autor del libro de ensayos Galicia, el Estado y la libertad.
En la actualidad ejerce como Abogado y dirige el Bufete García Míguez. Abogados, fundado en 1972. Es presidente de la Corte Gallega de Arbitraje y socio fundador de CanalCoruña, S.L., empresa de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación, fundada en 2000.
Este año se cumplen veinte del nacimiento de la Fundación Porlier, habiendo sido García Míguez el impulsor principal de la creación de esta entidad.
La Xunta de Galicia clasificó la Fundación Porlier como Cultural y la declaró de Interés Gallego en 1988.
La Fundación Porlier (www.fundacionporlier.org: ) es una institución que no tiene finalidad lucrativa y no recibe subvenciones públicas.
Sus objetivos, de naturaleza filantrópica y cívica, son la protección y el fomento de las ideas de libertad y tolerancia, el respeto a los derechos humanos, así como el apoyo al progreso de Galicia en todos los ámbitos, con base en la primacía del individuo sobre el Estado, y en la bondad de las instituciones democráticas representativas.
Para el cumplimiento de los expresados fines, la Fundación Porlier ha desarrollado múltiples actividades en el curso de los últimos veinte años.
